I feel that New York is a city of serendipitous events. I should know, I mean, I saw New York Minute. Things happen for reasons that you can't explain and it's not because you were blackout drunk. This last trip to New York may have been pretty stressful, but there was one moment at Jack's Wife Freda where I was at peace. I can't explain why.
Blah blah blah, we all know that New York is an amazing city for food. I am very fortunate enough to go once a year for work and every year I have a wishlist of the places I want to eat. But they never come to fruition. Take last year for example, I was sick and had no taste so it was just burgers and beer. Kinda sucked, actually it REALLY sucked. This year, there were some highlights. I got to eat at the Meatball Shop in LES and one of the Shake Shacks. But my favorite of all time was Jack's Wife Freda.
It was an act of God I remembered the name Jack's Wife Freda. It wasn't on my Iphone notes of places to eat. While in the cab, I hastily Yelped the location, which just so happened to be where the the taxi driver was dropping us off.
I usually don't say this, but it was love at first sight. I didn't even have a bite of real food. I knew that this was where I was meant to be. From the outside sign, the cute menu, the font, the drawings, the fucking cute sugar packets, this was ALL me. Oh yeah and the food was amazing! I had the Madame Freda Croque. Ok guys, let's just say if I could put Emoji hearts around the plate I would. I mean all the Emoji hearts. It is that good! So simple. You don't get shit like this in Long Beach. Don't even get me started on the hot sauce. It was like everything I knew to be right in the world was all in one place.
To say eating here was inspiring is an understatement. It was everything I wanted it to be and more and I only had one plate!
